Hi I am in my 50's and have been teaching in the public high schools in Indiana for 22 years. I have licenses in biology, chemistry, general science, physical science and driver ed. All licences are grades 6-12. Most of my career has been in Chemistry ed, including AP Chem. I have taught 7th grade science, 8th grade science, integrated science, biology, earth and space science, food science, natural resources and earth/space science.
I am eligible for a teacher's pension in a few years when I am 57. I don't feel like I will want to retire from teaching - but maybe from what I'm doing now until I am able to draw social security. I think I am a good and enthusiastic teacher. And I would like to experience some new places and things while I'm still healthy -
My question is - what's the market out there like for old veterans like me -
I have thought about Southeast asia in an international school teaching some kind of science? I also have thought about adding an English as a second language certificate and maybe pursue that? Whats best a ESL certificate, TESOL, ENL? (Ball State has an online program)
Any observations or suggestions? |
