Just at a glance, this sounds like a real cert to me. In fact, if the quality is controlled, it sounds like a real GOOD cert.

It does indeed, particularly if the word REAL applies here, albeit in an ESL context, and not an EFL context as we're used to doing when teaching abroad. |

Well, yes, it's true that the students in question are in Canada, a predominantly Anglophone country. |

I'm a DoS and I can tell you we absolutely loathe them. Online entry level quals are a SCAM, simple as that.Only CELTA/Trinity TESOL cut it. |

So, I'm off to Toronto tomorrow and will start my teaching practicum on Monday.
The 250 hours of coursework that led up to the teaching practicum was not easy to say the least, especially the lesson plans (I really hated writing the lesson plans because the course textbook didn't provide anything along the lines of "this is what you put in a lesson plan"). |

| So, I get to the border on my way to Toronto to do my teaching practice and Customs on the Canadian side wouldn't let me in the country to go do my teaching practice. They said I needed a work permit (a work permit to do teaching practice at a school for two weeks, imagine that). This is simply not the case and I'm getting the issue resolved. I'm just going to have to re-schedule my teaching practice unless the school can make arrangements with a private school or with the Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division for me to do my teaching practice here. |
