Hi
Bit of background before the question:
5 years Tefl experience overseas and in UK, BA but not in English, almost finished writing a Tefl book andwill try to get it published, speak another language.
So, my wife and I would like to try our luck in Qatar.
We'll try to live the monk life, rarely venturing out of our appartment, if only to go to a restaurant or possible sporting activity.
Aim is to save 12,000/$16,500 in the course of a year.
Is this feasible?
Many thanks. |

Easy, you'll manage it
But if you have some work experience, why not apply for a proper job and you'll make twice the salary. There are many many many expat positions in Qatar/UAE.
If you are planning to live like a monk then you are going to Qatar/ UAE for a money collection, why not spend your year here working working working and making proper lolly |

You could both get a job at QP or you could sponsor the wife. She has more options as a female to work in different places, especially if you sponsor her. But you will need two salaries to survive and two cars. The Gulag provides you with a shared car or transport allowance - only five hundred a month but better than nothing.
Check out the website. Accomodation is the luck of the draw, some places are better than others.
