Hello,

I'm wondering if anybody knows of any teaching positions in China that last for 3 months?

I have a job tour leading at the moment between March and November. I am looking for some work from the end of November 2009 to the start of March 2010.

I have experience of teaching English in Japan for several years. I would love the opportunity to teach in China.

Any advice gratefully appreciated

Pete

Schools are always looking for people. On any given day you will find 5-10 advertisements for jobs. Most of these are language mills though which is not the best experience. The public schools were my favorite but people also find ways to screw that up too (middle men).

Private tutoring is always an option but tends to take a bit more time to set up and they want a teacher that will stay for a long term.

Excellent. Thanks very much. I'm surprised schools would take people on just for three months.

Do you know what the visa situation would be like? I would be travelling from the UK

School tend to hire on semester cycles. Less-bad schools don't like having mid-semester change of teachers because it raises operational costs and gets students/parents upset.

If you get a 3 month contract, you're probably looking at being the replacement for a run-away-teacher for a less-than-classy school.

Job adverts do not reflect the real number of available vacancies, and most of them are paid for by recruiters.

Your desire is a little unreasonable. A regular job has to last 6 months or one year.

Language schools are probably your best bet. They have a constant stream of FTs coming and going, and 3-month contracts are not all that unusual. Just make sure, if your contract is longer, it provides for termination upon one month's notice or less, since you're going to need that.
