I'm a teacher that is about to finish a contract in Korea (end date March 30th).
I want to go to Japan after but all the companies I have applied to (Berlitz, ECC, Aeon, Mike's and some others) have said that their teaching positions are filled until later 2009.
Beyond this, they only want teachers that are currently in Japan to apply for some jobs too.
My question is has anyone here gone from Korea to Japan? If so, how smooth was the transition with acquiring work from Korea? What would I need to do get a good job from Korea without having to go back to have an interview with a company?

The one thing I would recommend is STRESS that you are more than willing to FLY to Japan for the interview if offered!
I made the transition, and making that offer, I really think it is what 'pulled me through'.
The mass majority of teachers in Korea, seem to prefer the online sight-unseen hiring...and that works for Korea...but doesn't work elsewhere. The way to get around it is to offer to fly there if offered an interview yourself on your own dime. State it right in the cover letter, and again in the initial email. |
