I just applied for an ESL job through English First. In a later e-mail I received the following as is...
Thank you for your email. At the moment we are recruiting specifically for posts in major cities. Visa regulations in these locations currently require a minimum of one year of teaching experience on a full time basis.
Why you may fall short of this experience, if you might be interested, I would ask that you contact me at the beginning of March for possible openings in our franchise schools.
Are they blowing me off or is there something to this?

| English First offers the most exploitative salaries in the market. Avoid them whenever possible. About the one year requirement, alot of cities have a two year experience requirement and this is going to become more common as time goes on. That part is true.. |

That would be true if there were no competitors. In those cities where I have b een to, EF are not the only ones, and they usually offer conditions of employment comparable to everybody else's. |
