without sounding "lah-de-dah-de-dah-I meet celebrities" I met and chatted with Sofia Coppola and her brother Roman Coppola at a film festival 2 years ago in Scotland and I dont think I had met more insular, self absorbed, xenophobic misanthropes in all my life...my impression was that they considered everything else in the world other than themselves to be quaint, plastic, fake and contrivied, the paradox being that they themselves seemed to aspire to this asthetic in some ironic fashion (maybe I didnt get it, but they seemed like 1st year art school students)

Bravo, Laura! Bravo!

I second you opinion and applaud your eloquentness. This same topic came up a few months ago, but I responded too bluntly.

This has got to be the most overrated movie! I saw it in the US last fall with some friends. I did find parts of it interesting having taught in Asia and having dealt with Asian culture. However, my friends were squirming in their seats and looking at their watches. Whatever, it doesn't deserve the accolades it's getting. It's a 'different' movie, but not wonderous in any way.

As for Bill Murray's acting, I think everyone is raving about that because he played a different role from what he usually plays. Once again, good job but nothing wonderous.
