Another question for all of you!! Is Hoi An the best place to get clothing made in Vietnam? I can't afford to buy all new clothes in the U.S. and I don't own any "professional attire". I'll be taking a celta course in HCMC and then moving on to Indonesia for employment. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to stop in Hoi An before I leave to get my new wardrobe made. Any advice/opinions you can offer is greatly appreciated!

I have been to Hoi An several times and while it might be cheap to get some clothes made for you, it is hit and miss on the quality. In my opinion, you would be better off just buying clothes in Saigon. Clothes can be pretty cheap if you are not too big of a westerner, like myself. Hoi An is still worth the visit though, I have enjoyed my experience there every time I went. Why get a CELTA in Vietnam and then teach in Indonesia? Why not just get one in Indonesia? Have fun!

Couldn't agree more with mach114.

Hoi An is my favorite place in Vietnam, but the clothes can go either way. It is awesome to have tailored made clothes made for you, but you can do that anyhwere in Vietnam for the same price. If you are on holiday, do it for the experience.

Best beach in Vietnam, Cua Dai beside China Beach in Hoi An.

Ok, thanks for the info. Good to know. I'm taking the CELTA in Vietnam because there's only 1 school in Jakarta that offers the course. I've been there before and I might end up working in Jakarta. I don't see much point in going to school there too.

It is always good to get around and check out new places. That is probably the best reason to be an English teacher. When I visited Hoi An I always wanted to stay and teach for a while, but there just aren't many schools or jobs to be had for a decent wage there. The same goes for Dalat or Mui Ne. Life would be perfect if I could make the kind of money I make in Saigon in one of these towns! I think I am off topic, so I'll shut up!
