Among all this gloom and doom I feel we need a bit of beauty. Did you see the moon rise last night? It was absolutely heartbreakingly take-your-breath-away beautiful here. The uni where I work is on the hillside, the city down in the valley. The moon was rising just as I was leaving work, over the mountains on the otherside of the valley. You could see the glow of it from behind the mountain well before it rose over the top. Absolutely spectacular! As I descended into town the road moves a little to the south and from that angle the moon was just behind and slightly to the side of one of the closer in hills so it backlit the top and the side of that hill.
I've been following the moon for most of my life and I've even been to those Japanese moon viewing parties in spots that are especially know for nice moonrises--and this was one of the best I've ever seen.

Also the Jacarandas are starting to bloom!!!!!!!

(I do think the news stories are important for us to discuss, but it seems to be getting a little out of balance all of a sudden, don't you think?)

MELEE, thanks for your beautiful description of the moonrise. I love the moon too and often have chats with it from my kitchen window while washing the dishes Very Happy . And the gorgeous jacarandas are starting to bloom here too in the heart of the capital!

Please note that's just one person in particular who's been posting all those doom-and-gloom news stories. Not all of us are that focused on the negatives of our adopted patria Wink

Yesterday was a lunar eclipse too. It was cloudy and rainy here where I am so I didn't get to see the moon at all. Sad
