Hmmm... most people going for European and Latin American locations.

Interesting there aren't more for Asia, considering thats where most of us work.

I could mention a dozen Chinese cities: Guilin, Dalian, Fuzhou, Wuxi...

I was offered a job in Songkla, Thailand once - looks like a beautiful place

Well I picked an underground bunker... which could be anywhere.

Seriously though I'm in Florida now and I'm bored with the strip malls. If I could pick anywhere it would be some remote Caribbean coast in a country where I could own my shotgun and my fishing rod (Pa nama comes to mind). I admit that I miss old Florida... before the yankee retirees came.

I miss driving down to the beach, starting a fire, going fishing, drinking some beer... simple things....

How many have choose places they have only spent a few days in I wonder?

If money were no object then I could be happy almost anywhere. Smile Afterall it's not where you live but how you live.

Actually I don't like to think of myself as living any one place for the rest of my life, but I guess London wouldn't be bad.

Dear Marcoregano,

"nb. Nobody yet has chosen the place they're in."

Ooops - you missed me, too:

"Venice, Italy or right where I am: Santa Fe, NM. Both are places you can live in all your life but never get tired of."

Regards,
John

Yes, John. I noticed that. Marco needs to brush up on his reading!
BTW, I agree with Nabby about choosing somewhere in which you only spent a week. I did it.

I'm in Quito, which was one of my choices.

Very Happy

Find a hobby they'll pay you for, and you'll never have to work a day in your life!

(I love TESOL)

Apols to you guys for being hasty in my perusal of the thread. Still, none of you chose your current locale unequivocally, and Guy, there is nothing in your post that make's it clear you are in Mexico City. Whatever, most people tend to see the grass greener somewhere else (hence the expression).

I like the disparity of choices. Personally I would never choose a city and wild horses wouldn't drag me back to live in London, though I can see its attractions when I go back as a visitor. When people choose a place they only experienced for a holiday, I do wonder whether that place would be as enjoyable if you went back there to live and work.

Given that this thread is entirely hypothetical, I saw no problem in listing a city that I had only seen for four days. My other choices were a) a city I lived in for two years and b) a city I lived 10 miles away from for six years.

Problem? Shocked Some confusion here. I was trying to encourage discussion of the notion, as mentioned by Nabby Adams...

...that places we see briefly (on holiday for example) aren't necessarily as groovy as they seemed to be if/when we go and work/live there.
