Having arrived at this message too late, I do apologize.
Please make sure that, if you leave the country to go on a visa run, but you are not doing a work visa run (rather, you're getting a tourist/social/business/visa on arrival deal), you should have a ticket back out of the country. Immigration in Jakarta is better than it used to be, but I've been hassled more than once because of the lack of that ticket. Some ask, some don't, but if you don't have that ticket, you'll either be asked for a large sum of money (some blokes I knew had to pay 1mil each), or be forced out, unless you have mates who can buy you a ticket so you can get in, as WannaBGuru did.
Also, I noted that your departure date was more than 30 days after your arrival date, but your employer has amended that. Good thing - or you'd be hit with a fine for every day past 30 (which includes the day you arrived).
If you check around, you can find a changer to accept the rejected bills - albeit at a worse rate.
Basil is correct that walking into traffic is the norm here, although I tend to prefer to look first, so as to give oncoming traffic time to brake or swerve, and I hold out my hand to the traffic as an added warning. Traffic is very much me-first, so that's why you can do that.
