I am moving to Taiwan to work with Hess (I know a lot of you don't like Hess but I hear its good for newbies, as I am a newbie to this site as well). However I was wondering if there was anyone out there who was currently or is currently doing contract B with Hess, preferably in Hsinchu City or Tainan where I plan to live. How do you like it and are you able to do things on your time off since you work so much?

I don't want to live in Taipei or Taipei county because the cost of living is too high, and I want an apartment for about 7,000-8,000 NT. Is this possible to find in Hsinchu or Tainan?

Thank you!

Hunter Very Happy

I've got an apartment in Jhu Dong (1 hour from Hsinchu) for 5,500 a month. It's really exciting. This is where all the superstars come and party every weekend. I do not understand, are you being sarcastic or is it really where all the superstars go to party? Also, is there many restaurants in walking distance of your apartment in case I do not have a kitchen? I am just relating my options and what people do in certain circumstances to get by not having one things or another. Do tell.

Also, do you work for hess?

Hsinchu is an expensive city for housing. 7,000-8,000 will get you one room with a bath, no kitchen. If you like the local fare, small food stalls are everywhere.

Almost anywhere is less than Taipei or Hsinchu. As citylightsruralcalm noted, the "suburbs" of even these cities are cheaper. You'll be making a trade though when you choose inexpensive over convenient.
