I would like to know which websites to look in if I want good teaching jobs in Indonesia.
What should I EXPECT from a good position? |

www.tefl.com is a good place to start.
"What should I Expect from a good position?" Most schools will specify their "compensation package" in their ad so choose the one where your package will fit nicely with their's and give it your best shot.... |

It depends on what you mean by good and what you are prepared to do.
A bloke I used to work with went to work for a Christian school. His monthly salary was 25 million back in 2006. He was also provided an apartment. For Jakarta that is a nice comfortable sum to live off and most would agree a very nice package.
The "downside". Monday to Friday 0630 - 1630 plus Saturday mornings. He had to attend church every Sunday with the teachers, take part in lots of extra curricular activities and overall do a lot more than required of the average ESL teacher. He was in effect working as a full time employee. He was a religious man and was happy to do all the extras so for him the job was great. His kids also went to the school at very reduced fees.
Money aside, what other benefits that may be on offer with a job such as decent medical insurance and an accommodation or transport allowance. If you end up in Jakarta you will soon get sick of travelling. Going from A to B can be a nightmare. Having somewhere quiet, clean and comfortable to live in without your privacy being intruded upon goes a long way to keeping you happy.
Job satisfaction is more than money. In the end you have to weigh it all up and decide for yourself. |

Set your mind on a salary, but remember this isn't the west.
You should require that the employer:
pays all taxes, including the foreigner tax
gets you your taxpayer card (NPWP), identity card (KTP) and all work and living permits (KITTS, etc.), plus registers you with the police and other agencies
pays for any overseas trips to the embassy in the event they haven't completed your work permit by the time you arrive, including any FISKAL tax, and gives you cash UP FRONT for all of the trip's expenses, plus some extra for emergencies; arranges your hotel stay; has an agent who will process the paperwork to get your permits at the embassy so you don't have to figure it out yourself and wait 3-7 days
provides health insurance (min. AD&D/hospitalization)
allows you off every national & school holiday, preferably with vacation time, too
allows sick days with pay
allows leave (compassionate, sick, etc.)
does not expect you to repay anything if you quit early
offers a bonus (or bonuses) for contract completion, etc.
offers you money for a one-way/round-trip ticket home (or the ticket)
doesn't expect you to work weekends (unless you like that!)
gives you set working hours that are acceptable to you
clearly states your job responsibilities so you can't be hornswoggled into something else after you start working
These are just some ideas...I'm sure others can give you more...
