Actually one of my secondary reasons for teaching overseas was to look for business opportunities. It sounds like Vietnam could use some franchises. Might be something for me to research. |

| A Maccas right in the middle of the World Heritage Site Hoi An would really spruce the place right up! |

| It might be a good idea to at least visit Vietnam before fantasizing about opening a Taco Bell. |

Actually, Taco Bell seems to be the one franchise that does not yet seem to have discovered SE Asia. And I would think that Mexican food (or faux Mexican food) would go over well considering the affiliation with spicy sauces.
One foreign franchise that I have appreciated over and over in Malaysia is Nando's Chicken, from South Africa. Very good!!
Yeah, I know that this is the Vietnam thread.

| If you're missing western fast food, go to Lotteria, its essentially the same menu as McDonalds. They have locations all over Vn. Bo means beef in Vietnamese, so make sure you order a Bo burger. |
Lotteria is the Korean version of McDonalds for those who are not aware. I have not been to Loterria in Vietnam but they do make some interesting burgers in South Korea. |

^ Terrible is more like it. If you don't already have the runs, runaway from that place. It's quite hard to get a good beef burger in Vn. Went to Jollibees today and had a spaghetti/burger combo. Caveman says" spaghetti good. Hamburger? Food?" Mystery meat works sometimes. |

Lotteria sucks as much as Korea does. |

Don't knock Lotteria. The food is functional and it keeps me going before my 2 hour evening lesson.

This is a rather funny discussion. Anyone seen or read "Fast food nation"?
There is plenty to eat here, no worries about that. If you need your monthly ration of grease fried radiated meat refried and salted....you won't be disappointed.
Some people like vietnamese food, and some people don't. One thing forsure is that diarrhea and like diseases are common with most people. Expect to have food poisoning at least once a year. I know a few people who eat on the street regularly who also chew on diarrhea tablets daily. As with any foreign area, the enzymes are different and the body must build up an immunity to the ones that make for sickness.
With inflation really undermining the poor vendors of the cities, it's all too common that poor ingredients are substituted for more expensive ones -- the resulting food poisoning is of little concern, and don't think that they would even consider the idea of repeat customers or even thinking about tomorrow. They are just trying to get through the day.
Buyer beware. |

Lotteria has a geat chicken burger ....big !
I don't go very often but I like it when i need a change.
I don't understand their fascination with charlie chaplin movies however. Every Lotteria TV shows those film clips. |

The last I heard was Burger King and MacDonalds were actually owned by a parent corporation from the U.K.
Chow King in the philippines is really good fast food and open 24hrs. They have baked chicken, noodle, rice, soup and other stuff.
I wish they had one here. |

The thing is, we can't stop globalization. I don't want to see the influx of these fast food places but there isn't a lot that can be done about it. The locals see it as new and exotic and will eat there, even though it destroys there health. A treat at these joints once in a while is OK, but it's not meant for daily doses. |

There's Jollibee I liked them. But I was always down for some late night street food. |
