So here I am in Denver, wading into Week Three of the CELTA Course. So far so good.
But lookie here, I now have two job offers in front of me. QP and Bell in Saudi. I have 12 years in Saudi Arabia, so I know what Riyadh is like, but have never been to Qatar.
The most important thing in selecting a contract is the contractor. I know that. Do they live up to their promises? How will they treat you? But, presuming the money is equal in both places, Which would be a nicer place to live?
Any thoughts? |

The Qatar job pays a bit less, and what do I know of QP? (Not much) My household junk is in the Kingdom, so I am leaning toward Riyadh. |

Seriously...maybe a change is necessary; seems you have had a rough time in KSA in the past...just because your "stuff" is in Riyadh, should not be the deciding factor.
I would suggest Qatar as well. |

As I recall Scot47 tried QP (??) didn't like it and returned to Saudi.
Sometimes it is better the devil you know... (I'd choose Qatar, but what do I know...)

In truth, after nine months back in the US, I am just ready to be back in the region packing away the cash.
I suppose I will go for the Riyadh contract, keeping the QP one in my pocket just in case.
Still, I would value any positive comments. (Odd how little use I have for negative comments. Every job has downsides. It is just not too useful to hear from people who have little good to say.)
Where the heck is the worksite for QP? |

What I have learned from postings hereabouts is that only people who have a grudge post. No employer gets good marks around here. Without specifics, I discount comments like "the gulag." |

That's true. I just take "Gulag" to mean a housing compound out in the desert. I mean, that's what 99.9% of Qatar is, isn't it? BTW, whatever happened to whatever evolved from DIFA and are they still somehow keeping the C-130s in the air or is that LMMEs job now. And, whatever happened to Daughter of DIFA?

I think "only" might be overstatement, but the negative posters always seem to outnumber the positives... for obvious reasons.
I'd say that you seem to be able to handle most anything a lousy employer can throw at you... so flip a coin...

How about...flexible, adaptable and able to turn the other cheek...will leave the negatives to someone else...
I think VS is right you have gone through the worst of times so you should be well prepared for anything in any situation. |

"The Gulag" is the Training Center run by QP for its young trainees. Avoid. I was there not as a direct hire but through QAC - and not in the Gulag. I was ion a gentler environment but did not like it. I was relieved to get back to the K of SA. |
