| There has been a move afoot for years to criminalize debt. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw borrowers who default on loans being rounded up for Federal prisons within the next ten years. |
Oh man - I hadn't heard this! Would that include student loan debt?
What countries send debtors to prison? Recently I heard of an expat imprisoned in Dubai for not paying his mortgage after losing his job. (!) |
We were just discussing Dubai's financial problems over lunch today. Apparently it is illegal not to pay off debts, so people are just taking off--leaving cars parked at the airport and just getting out.

| I have an American passport since I'm an USC and have been content with just until I married a Brazilian. Now I'm considering getting a Brazilian passport. I have to find out more information on how to do so since we're currently living in the U.S. I do plan on getting a permanent visa so when we go back I can begin working immediately. |
