Because there's no recourse in the CR for advertisements that lie.

You will need to be earning at least 20,000kr after taxes if you want to live in an ok standard. |

If you are able to find a room in an apartment for 4,000 CZK or less you could make it off of that. However, that's pretty unlikely unless you're living in a closet or get a really good deal from somebody.
20,000 After taxes is the way to go. If you work a full schedule you should be getting this. Full is 25 or more teaching hours a week. |

Just wondering if the old 'conversation' teacher scam is still on the go.
Back in 93 that's how I cut my teeth, my first teaching gig in Ostrava was as a 'conversation' teacher at a high school, preparing students for their school leaving exam.
We covered such interesting topics as 'a visit to the post office' and the 'the history of the royal family' etc etc.
The school provided and paid for the accommodation and I taught about 15 hours.
Of course 6000 went a long way back then and with stravenky (luncheon vouchers) and tramvajenka (public transport pass) thrown in it wasnt too shabby.
They had smazak (fried cheese) and pivo (beer) at the local boozer for about 15CZK..changed days now, that wouldnt get you a Matoni and a rolik these days.
Is there much work for IELTS examiners in Czech these days? |

Ok, the question is how much money you need. I have a similar question. How much money do you get as an English teacher in Prague? Tx. |

xjessie, you can make enough to live on ok. But not to pay off debt abroad, save up much, or buy anything big like a car or flat. |

I am sure it is better than have to go back to India , but what are the numbers. You seem to know, so how much can I expect? |

I think very roughly between 24,000 and 32,000 gross. Czech koruni, obviously. Expect to pay (again very roughly) 30% in taxes. Salary will obviously depend on employer and your own qualifications.
The more relevant answer is 'enough to live on ok, but not to pay off debt back home, save up much, or buy anything significant like a car or flat.' But I guess you didn't like that one already |

Exactly, for the first year or two don't expect to be making very much at all. You'll earn about 15,000 post taxes, and if you're paying 5,000-10,000 rent (this is all per month) then you'll have enough to pay for food, transport and food.
But don't expect conditions to be like back at home. Czechs live very simply, and they will think you can too.
Fortunately you don't need a car if you live in Prague, as public transport is pretty good. |

no real market for ielts in prague. few czechs are interested in studying abroad, theyd rather get free unviversity in czech than "you pay, you pass" uni abroad. understandable really.
there is a growing cambridge exam market, particularly cae, as there are few teachers around qualified to teach exam prep.
there is a small ielts market amongst russian sts living in cz. they all want to study abroad. but its a small niche. |
