I happen to know Sunmoon as I toiled for that business' founder many moons ago; I probably was his first laowai face.
It was a runaway success story (but then again, there was no competition at that time).
It therefore astonishes me to see Sunmoon still in business, and yes, I have actually seen adverts these past years. Once even in a train.
Which means they are, how did I say before? Successful!
It's a family business run my Boss Mu from Shandong ('Sun' is his transliteration of Shan as in Shandong). I suppose, the guy must have learnt many lessons over these years (in my time he used to make colossal errors that could kill any business, but I don't wish to go public with my insights at this moment).
Expect to find a boss that likes his staff to worship him a little; in one meeting he told them "I am a god...' He certainly cultivates his image but I don't know how this rubs off on the quality of English classes.
My students were self-paying adults, and I had a fantastic time with them. The boss was, hmmm, variable. Fantastic if he chose to be, but he did not always choose to be that. |
