Hello again everyone,

When travelling what kind of funds should I carry? Travellers cheques, visa/mastercard/amex, cash or a mix of everything?

Regards,

Matt

Dear matthew156,

When traveling, I used to carry travelers checks, but that was before international ATMs became (pretty much) ubiquitous (in the last few years of my time there, I never used travelers checks.) I think nowadays, a visa credit/debit card would suffice - though when returning to the Kingdom, I always tried to make sure I had about 150 SR (in varying denominations) for a taxi from the airport.Regards,
John

Righteous, but Visa or whoever will bugger you over the exchange rate!

Hey, I have no intentions of getting buggered.
But just in case I'll look out behind me. Shocked

Thanks everyone

I would advise carrying a debit card and a few hundred US dollars or euros in cash with you. Even if you end up not needing to use the dollars or euros, you will appreciate having them with you the next time you travel out of the Kingdom. Same for traveller's cheques, although they are more trouble than they are worth these days, IMHO.

Travelers' cheques are relics of Come Fly With Me with Hugh O'Brien as the square-jawed pilot and when even coach class was glamorous. Yes, I'd say 1969 was about the last time I used one.
