| How were you directly hired? That sounds like a sweet deal. |
I answered an ad on ohayosensei for a private school that was looking for an English teacher. |
I got you. Most jobs are hard to get Stateside, but once you're in country it's an easier thing to do I suppose. |

I was sick during the 3 month probation period. I was sick due to the poor conditions in the schools. No heat in the classrooms during winter. Many students were attending class sick, others were absent, even many staff members took time off. I came in, but finally had to take a few days off in order to recover.
This was 100% work related, however I didn't get paid for it. Interac has no regard for its ALT's.
AVOID this company. If you try to stand up for your rights, they will find a way to get rid of you or make life miserable. That is not why we come to Japan.
For those of you with Interac, I advise you to consult the local labour board, teacher's union in Osaka and possibly the local board of education. Write letters, send them out etc.... |

LOL, I don't think the sick days thing is all that rare? (sadly)
It was like that in Nova too
in regards to cold classrooms, I have heard this before, come to Hokkaido! No cold classrooms up here and no high humidity either |

Yes do tell-I'm curious
Although in an average month I make about 120k from private lessons so I suppose it's not impossible. On the other hand, doing so with a full time job would be a bit of a squeeze. |
