I am an MBA student in Austin Texas and our capstone project is helping a non profit org that helps adolescent moms raise their children and learn job skills in San Jose Costa Rica. These moms live at the facility and are schooled in house. Citizens that know English are in high demand in Costa Rica. Can anyone put me in touch with a language center that could help the moms learn at least conversational or industry specific English at little or no cost? Maybe even language centers that offer scholarships or could come to the facility to teach once a week? I have researched the INA which offers free English lessons but not sure how viable that option is. |

I believe there is one or two TEFL schools in San Jose, they could probably send their students over to teach with little or no charge. Good luck finding this kind of charity in San Jose though. I think it would also be a great idea for you to go to the monthly open houses in the English-speaking theatre group here: http://www.littletheatregroup.org/whats_happening/news.html
They have tons and tons of native English speakers attending and there is a chance you might find someone who is willing to come around once in a while to teach. |
