|
|
I'm basically looking for a decent place to do a CELTA and wonder if there's much disparity in cost.
Can anyone tell me the usual cost in UK ? Korea ? Japan ? Shanghai ? and various places in Asia ?
I believe it's about CAD$2000 in Canada and US$3000 in Beijing.
Thanks a lot |

The only providers I know are ECC Bangkok (not sure of the price, but you can research it), British Council Kuala Lumpur (again not sure of the cost) and ILA Vietnam. There are loads of other providers of course, but these may be a starting point for your research. |

You have to navigate around a bit but there is a page that lists all programs worldwide, with timetables and costs. The program cost varies widely. I live in the US, and I can fly to E.Europe and take the course for the same net cost. Easy choice. |

Riga the price is currently 749 lats - $1336 at International House. That's cheaper than last year when the price was 800 lats (at that time over $1600.) |

Hi,
I did some research earlier this year for costing CELTAs and this is what I found. I hope this helps
Thailand Phuket $1600
New Zealand Auckland $1622
Australia Sydney $1718
England is $1800
Prague is even more and so on. |

I think costs have changed since then due to the economic crisis and falling currencies maybe ?
Schools in the UK are offering it for 800 GBP... US$1100 |

Yes...you should not only consider the cost of the program but also the cost of 4 weeks of accomodations and airfare to get there. 3 years ago I was looking at the Thailand program and the cost of the program, room and board and airfare from Beijing was just under $3,000. Airfare from Los
Angeles to Thailand at that time was only $100 more (go figure). |

Very true.
I did mine in Phuket in 2006 with IH.
Current costs are $2445 fully inc.

Definitely worth consideration.
Pros =
- no traveling to school,
- good accomodation,
- excellent on-site food,
- laundry services,
- computer facilities (needed!),
- sports facilities,
- quiet, clean, relaxing surroundings,
- the support of a group of other people all doing the same thing.
- It's Phuket, get there on the backpacker trail for 50 cents and some pocket fluff.
Cons =
- the internal photos are a little glossier than reality, and that boarding room shown is way larger than mine was,
- there is no smoking on-site, so a long walk is needed to get to the gate (if you partake),
- can be difficult to get away from it all except for a few hours at the weekend. |

IH Krakow in Poland charges the equivalent of 799 GBP in zlotys, 749 if you book in advance by about 4 weeks. Same in Budapest, Hungary.
Just completed mine and very happy. |
