My boyfriend and I have been planning for some time to come to Korea and teach ESL. Up until recently we figured we'd just leave our dog with family here but we're having some serious changes of heart since we only went to Costa Rica for a week and it seemed to have had some negative consequences on the poor guy and it makes me wonder what he would do for an entire year? We also don't know if we can really trust anyone with him for a whole year either.

He's only about 20 pounds--a pug mix, 2 years old. I've read a few posts about people wanting to bring their dogs with them and while alot of the feedback seems to steer people away I think I've seen a small glimmer of hope-- that it might be doable even though there would be a lot of compromises.

Long teaching hours- He can handle 12 hours of bein on his own easily
Not being able to travel- I've read in a few places that some trains you can bring a dog on so long as they're kenneled and that you can find some hotels that will allow you to bring pets. Other people have mentioned that you can find some (very rare) places that you can board them or people to dog sit even if it is unlikely. In this sense are we limited to Seoul then? We also wonder about the fact that surely some family might want to come out and visit us at some point and if so could we maybe get them come towards the end of our stay and send the dog back to Canada with them, and do more travelling after we've finished teaching and saved all our money?

This is really the only issue that makes me hesitant about going even though i've been dreaming of this for some time. I'd appreciate some feedback about whether these ideas are way too far fetched.

First off, bringing a dog, you'll have to go through lots of shots and paperwork just to get him out of the cuontry.

Second, most landlords, won't want a dog in their flat.

Third, I bet more people on the Kroean forum could help you out.
