|
|
Hi
I have been looking at the vacancies in King Abdulaziz University and in the ad, there are a couple of things I can't work out
1. An annual housing allowance of :
a. SR 25,000 for Ph. D. holders
b. SR 18,000 for MA holders
c. SR. 17,000 for BA holders
This is presumably per year??? Where exactly would one live for that? Are you meant to top it up out of your own salary?
2. Salary
[Basic Salary of SR. 4,080 + 85% increase for BA's, 80% for MA's and 60% for PhD's + up to 5 years of experience Increment(s)]
Just don't get this at all...
it's all here http://www.kau.edu.sa/centers/elc/ELC%20Jobs.asp
Am working in Jeddah at the moment and am quite happy for the time being, but just want to check this one out.
Also, does anyone work there or know of anyone who does? What's it like?
Thanks

Well, I guess the guy who translated the above from an Arabic document, was thinking from 'right to left' instead of 'left to right', and forgot to put the titles with the correct %!!
PhD should be 85% increase, MA 80%, and BA 60% , this looks more logic! |

Another question....
Are "Official vacations: Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha" included in the 60 days paid holiday or as well as?
Still not getting my head around the housing allowance...
Thanks

The 60 day holiday refers to the summer break. Other holidays for Eid and mid semester break etc. are paid.
17,000SR is the yearly price of a 4 room, 2 bathroom appartment. Forget about compounds unless you want to pay a lot more. |

Depending on location, a 2-bedroom apartment would be anywhere between SR. 12,000 per year and SR. 25,000 per year.
A 4-bedroom apartment would be anywhere between SR. 18,000 and SR. 40,000.
So, the housing allowance, while not great, is adequate. Of course, if you want to live in a compound, you will have to dish out at least an equal amount from your salary. The cheapest compounds in Jeddah will run you SR. 30,000 per year for 1-bedroom flat, and SR. 45,000-50,000 for a 2-bedroom flat. |
