Hi everyone.

I've posted on here before about the best path to take for a long term career in TEFL, I received lots of great replies which has helped me a lot.

I am currently in a college in Wales working as a teacher/assistant DOS. I have a joint honours degree in Linguistics and TEFL and a CELTA. Come September time I will have about 1 years post CELTA teaching experience and around 2 1/2 years teaching experience overall.

I want to go abroad around September time, so I hopefully have plenty of time to find a good school. I have international experience of teaching in South Africa and China. I would ideally like to go to Asia but not China, but I want a school where I can really get involved with the students and the students, not just go for a laugh or see a bit of the country. I want a really full CV from a years teaching!

Well my questions are... Where should I look about going? Should I reply to the adverts on this site? they put me off because they seem to be about the benefits to the teacher (money, flights, etc) Am I being too hasty in looking now for a job starting in September?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Except for international schools, in Japan the academic school year begins in April, so your timing is not really good here.

For what you want, a full teaching CV, I would have a look at the jobs with the British Council. The only problem you might have, is that I think they require two years of teaching experience post CELTA. You can always apply and play to your strengths though.

There are probably lots of smaller schools out there where you could get involve and move up.
ASia and Europe might fit your bill to start in Sept. It might be too early to start for some, but others, like ALT takes almost a year to apply.
Maybe start applying in May. Apply here and seriousteachers. Benefits are very important, which is why employers advertise them. Teachers should know what they're getting into before they apply
