In the US, the salary usually will eb around US$4000 for AP. The pay in Saudi is supposed to be higher than that in the States.

I heard a rumor that it can be around US$10000 per month, but not sure. That is why I am here to seek your opinion.

Thanks!

Well, do not listen to rumours!

Full Professor with 20 years of experience will not get the above salary.
The max salary of a Saudi professor, with at least 15 yrs experience, in a government university, is around SR24500 /m ($6533) (after the 15% increase!).

007, I am afraid that with the wave of saudization of university positions, what matters is no longer your passport or eyes colour, but rather qualifications and experience because their pay scale is strictly dictated by high offices in the ministry. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the only governmental place that still openly discriminate in their hiring practices is the colleges under the Royal Commission of Yanbu and Jubail: JIC, YIC, YUC and JUC. they have two different scales: one for 'developed countries' and another for the 'developing countries candidates.

So, non-Saudi APs don't usually enjoy the kind of job security their Saudi peers naturally do . You will need to have a needed qualification with strong research background to survive.

As for the typical Anglo-saxon looks, well! Yes, it easily gives you a free ticket in EFL language schools or even prep-programmes, but it is not as easy in government universities.

My recommendation: Try PSU, PMU, AlFaidal Uni, or any private uni that ' brag over and sometimes 'display' the number of the blued eyed

Good luck

Relative pay, perhaps, but not absolute pay.

Remember, no taxes, low living costs, free accomodation, tickets, free medical, etc, mean that you will still save more with a lower salary. That's what people come here for. So in a way, yes, the pay is more.

At private universities, it depends on what you teach, and if you are male or female. Math professors and engineering professors make more, English professors make less. Men make more, women make less.

This is true everywhere, because women talk more than men, that's why the women make less!! Laughing

Teta Mia, I have heard that woman can speak an average of 25,000 words per day, nearly three times than men!? Laughing

Dear 007,

Men Talk More Than Women Overall, But Not In All Circumstances
cienceDaily (Nov. 13, 2007) A Gallup poll recently confirmed that men and women both believe that it is women who are most likely to possess the gift of gab. Some even believe that women are biologically built for conversation. This widespread belief is challenged in new research.
The article* describes a recent set of meta-analyses conducted by Campbell Leaper and Melanie Ayres. These analyses collect all of the available evidence from decades of scientific study and systematically combine the findings into an overall picture of the differences between men and women regarding talkativeness.
The authors found a small but statistically reliable tendency for men to be more talkative than women overall -- especially in certain contexts, such as when they were conversing with their wives or with strangers. Women talked more to their children and to their college classmates."

"You talk too much...
You talk too much...
You talk too much...
You talk too much...

Hey! You over there, I know about your kind
You're like the Independent Network News on Channel 9
Everywhere that you go, no matter where you at
I said you talk about this, and you talk about that
When the cat took your tongue, I say you took it right back
Your mouth is so big, one bite would kill a Big Mac

You talk too much You never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never shut up

You talk about people, you don't even know
And you talk about places, you NEVER go
You talk about your girl, from head to toe
I said your mouth's moving fast, and your brain's moving slow"

Regards,
John

There are several studies that show that when men and women are in groups together in a work context, men will consistently dominate the conversation. That comes to no surprise to women who work with men, since men are compelled to constantly display their "superior" knowledge in some way.

Just look at the length of johnslat's posts compared to mine Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well, Teta Mia, since you are in the Magic Kingdom, your above theory is not valid!

It is very well know that women when they are in a women-only group tend to talk more than if they were in a mixed sex group. And this has to do with their biological and sociological structure/brain-patterns!

Since the Magic Kingdom is a male dominated society, women are kept silent (both socially and politically) until the men are out!!

Play by the rules! Laughing
