Hi,

My husband is an EU citizen (from the Netherlands) but I am not. We are currently in Australia but we are thinking about moving to Spain. Does anyone have any idea about what my status would be? Can I legally work there?

I have a BA in English, a CELTA, 3 years ESOL teaching and 1 year TESOL training experience. If I can work legally would it be difficult to find teaching work in Madrid or Valencia? What kind of salary could I expect? I guess it is easier to find work once I get there so when are the best times for work?

Thanks.

Chiq

There's tons of work in Madrid. People come and go throughout the year so you should walk into a job easily enough.
I don't know if you can work legally.

Hoi Chiquiquita! I also have a Dutch spouse. Have a look at:
http://www.pwcglobal.com/Extweb/service.nsf/docid/DEBA5C31485416F4CA256B3E00172EBD
"Spouse work rights? Yes, full rights to work subject to work permit application. In any event the spouse needs to apply for residence permit."

Do goto the nearest Spanish diplomatic envoy to ask about your case. You probably have good grounds for going.

HTH!
