Hello all,
I posted a thread in the general LA but maybe my question should have been directed here.
I have a 4 year BA degree, a Texas teaching certificate in English 8th-12th grade and 1 year teaching experience at the high school level.
On top of that, I love to teach.
I have been looking at teaching jobs online and it appears that many of the "desirable"/higher paying positions in Mexico/other LA countries are asking for CELTA or TrinityTESOL or equal.
***My question concerns certification equality in the eyes of employers.**
Is a SIT TESOL or ITTO TESOL considered equal to CELTA/TrinityTESOL certification in reference to employer's perceptions?
I don't mind paying extra money for a CELTA certification if it can get me interviews for better job opportunities than if I had a 4 week TESOL
from ITTO in Guadalajara or a SIT TESOL course.
I am planning on coming to Mexico or some other LA country in July or August for a certification course so I have some time to make a good plan.
Thanks for any assistance in this matter,
Johnson |

Do you have a strong desire to teach English as a Second/Foreign Language? As a qualified teacher you could probably find work in an international school... |

That appears to be the way to go. I had a post in the LA forum and have a few leads from that post.
I just submitted an application to a school in Ecuador, looks like a good place/good pay and benefits.
If you have any other suggestions or know of any good international schools looking for English/Lang. Arts teachers, please let me know.
Thanks for your input. |
