Are schools in session during Ramadan or do they get out early?

I think Ramadan is on August 20th this year, but I'm not 100% sure.

Please let me know.

Thank you!

Due to the overlap of Ramadan and summer, there is likely to be summer hols tagged onto the Ramadan hols for at least a couple more years yet. The flip side to that is many institutions finish later for the summer.

Under normal circumstances, classes are held during Ramadan with shortened hours. Students usually are allowed to arrive later and leave earlier. However, teachers may or may not be given shortened hours. My place of employment still insisted that the teachers stay for the entire day, even though many of our teachers are fasting Muslims. This was understandably a very unpopular policy....one of many, I'm afraid.

Some universities and schools will indeed have Ramadan off this year since it is so close to the summer holidays. Where I work, the admin will insist that the faculty be on campus, even though there will be no students attending class. Sad

Yep, but that's for the students. Plenty of places are asking for the staff back at the end of August or beginning of September.
