My situation: I am a certified ESL elementary teacher with 5 years of experience teaching English language arts. I would like to teach in Latin America this summer for up to six weeks. Any idea of where to start? Or if this is even a possibility for such a short time period? Thank you in advance!

You could volunteer.

You'd sort of be volunteering even if you get paid work, because it would be very unlikely that you'd get work that would cover setup costs, travel costs, and whatnot, for only 6 weeks.

If a volunteer or semi-volunteer gig appeals to you, let me know.

You'd find work, no problem, with your quals- but six weeks in the summer is hardly worth it for an employer.

But if you're hoping to break even or save...most places in Latin America it takes a year, sometimes a bit more, to break even on travel and set up costs.

Best,
Justin

I am certainly not looking to get rich, just to travel and to experience the culture. I wouldn't mind volunteering. However, would a volunteer job offer housing, or at least assist in finding housing? Thanks for your help!

Usually it's included in the volunteer fee
