I have been asked for police clearance to take up a position in Saudi. Is this from the country of which I am residing now or the one on my passport. I haven,t lived in the UK for 14 years. I am on family status so would that mean the better half needs a clearance too? Also, we will need medicals does that generally include children (6yo). I have already contacted the employer about this today but replies seem to take a while and there is wealth of knowledge on these boards....for which, many thanks. K Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

The police clearance will be for the visa, so you better check with the embassy that is issuing you with it. If you are applying through the London Embassy I don't believe it is necessary.

Many Thanks SJ I could do with a list of procedures of what to do for the visa. I am applying from China and should be able to get the PC here if necessary, translated of course, I tried to phone the Embassy in Beijing but the line went dead. The website is in Arabic and China, unfortunately not my my default L2 at the moment. What about medicals for the sprogs?

Ask the embassy. Every Saudi embassy does things differently

When I went through the London embassy 18 months ago no police check required and eldest child, 10 yrs, did not need a medical.
