What would be an expected salary at HCT for an MA + 10 years??
It's the last thing they ask for on the online application form.
I've got circa 5000 US in mind. |

That's about 18,000 AED/month ---
It's not outrageously out-of-line.
Not sure they'll pay that much --- but with all of the salary adjustments they've announced in the past 3 years ---- maybe I'm wrong. |

Your salary would be 14 - 16 thousand, depending on various utterly unfathomable factors. |

I have to say that this perfectly describes the majority of employers in the Middle East.
OP - the number that you put on the application doesn't really matter. Do let us know if you manage to get an offer over 16,000. It will likely depend on that 10 years of experience - was it teaching Academic English? Reading/Writing? to Arabic speakers? If the answer is yes, your chances of pushing it higher improve. If it has been teaching conversation classes in Asia, not so much. Good Luck!

Just wondering
How long did it take between the initial screening process and the phone interview? |

If you're thinking YOU will have a choice in where you will be placed in the HCT system - think again. They will TELL you where you will be placed. Unless you can come up with a valid reason AND they want YOU badly enough to acoomodate your request - you might as well forget it.
A valid reason might include school age children and there is no good school choices where you are supposed to be going.
Remember - THEY have to want you badly enough to accomodate location requests. Sorry, but that's the reality at HCT. |

Point taken, but actually I've got plenty of options so I can play hardball I guess. If they aren't flexible I'll go elsewhere - no need to take it with my quals & exp |

The thing is that they may not need teachers at the Al-Ain branches and if they do, the management of these colleges choose from the available CVs. You actually have little or no input. Take care of 'threatening' to not accept too early in the process... if you get my drift. Let them make an offer first and then work on negotiating. Your CV may make you desirable, but perhaps not enough to let you choose...

Also keep in mind, you're not "special" because you have an MA +10 years experience. In this market, you're the norm rather than the exception unless you've got something special to offer.
HCT touts itself as being la creme de la creme (they're not) but they do have enough applicants to be choosy. |

It was about two weeks for us. We were interviewed and "passed" a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything further. |

Have hear of three folks starting at over 18 000 AED a month with zero experience at the tertiary level, at the HCT. Other institutes have paid even more - but the other required experience.
The time it takes? There is no formula here, that is clear. From 2 weeks to 5 years, and I have heard cases on both ends here.
If you don't have an MA stay away. |

Well I hope HCT will indeed break their pay structure for someone brimming with such self confidence.
Despite your pretty much 'as standard' qualifications and experience.
Let us know how you get on, eh? |

Sundrieddate - are these EFL teachers? I would have suspected this to happen more often with content teachers. If they are EFL teachers, what experience do they have? If you know, that is. |
