I am midway through my CELTA, have a B.A. a recognized university and teaching experience in Japan and a little here too.
What is the market for ESL tutors like in New York. Is it possible to have a full-time, independent tutoring business here?
What are the hourly rates? Students expectations? |

...i doubt you'd make $400 a week. less than $1600/mo and i don't see how one could survive in NY. unless you pack 8 people into an apartment and all share food. |

Thanks, but I'm already in New York and I was kind of hoping to hear from other people who live and work here. |

You should join NYS-TESOL online. It all depends on your quals. A Masters seems to be the minimum. |
