Telephone call one recent morning.
The Unknown: "Are you the resident at no. 11, 13th road, flat .o.?"
Me: "Who are you?"
The Unknown: "Are you the resident at no. 11, 13th road, flat .o.?"
Me (rising annoyance): "Do you have any name, perhaps???"
The Unknown: "This is the management office... are you the resident..."
Me: "Yes, I am the resident; do YOU have a NAME, perhaps???"
The Unknown: "...we have no money...we cannot subscribe to the newspaper you suggested..."
So, here I was listening to that rustic paper pusher telling me that my petition for the subscription to a reliable newspaper was not being entertained; I had spent a week gathering signatures from 2 dozen neighbours and residents in our estate, all supporting my endeavour to make them rescind their decision not to renew the subscription.
Anyway, they could have done it in better style... saying WHO was calling me, and, perhaps, even going to the trouble of writing their decision instead of giving me a chance call!
I still want to pour a septic tankful of sewage in their office! |

Sid! Shame on you! You lamented on another post that you were forever gonig to be known as the guy who liked big boobs, then you conform to your own stereotype! Why couldn't you have written 'I haven't seen one intelligent looking woman who looks like she'd be great to play Scrabble with'?
Foster -- er, maybe you only THINK that your chest isn't important in teaching. I worked in a girls' school; so didn't think it relevant, then I went for a day to my Canadian friend's all-boys' school. He told me after a full day of classes that when I walked into each classroom he could see most of the students making what he called 'the international gesture for big boobs'. Maybe they listened more, maybe they were too fascinated by what was at their eye level to concentrate...either way, I'm sure it had an effect. Most embarrassing...

I think the Local Chinese teachers are more offended by said boobs.
The kids just think I am fat...and not PHAT! Damn them narrow-minded little buggers. |

I can understand your anger, you probably feel you are not being taken seriously, just wing it this time but not in the future. These situations are frustrating especially if you want to be taken seriously.
I am very fortunate that I am being taken seriously in my school and I set the ground rules from the beginning and they are working.
If you can, sit down and explain that you are a teacher that needs time to prepare your lessons.
Don't lose your cool, it doesn't help try and stay calm and think of your objective. |

OK, LA, how about a compromise:
I am pissed off that I don't have big boobs!
Actually, I'm not. I'm quite content with myself as I am.

As a teacher it makes me furious that female teachers, especially in Asian countries are often judged on their looks and therefore not taken seriously...or considered better if they are better looking.
It pi$$es me off that while I am trying to teach my Form 3 kids about Keeping fit and healthy eating, they are making snide comments about my body shape behind my back in Cantonese.
It pi$$ed me off today *English Speaking Day* that the one day we get other expats in our school and I was to do something nice for them, a Canto-crap teacher would not cover my class for 20 minutes so that I could. All day, about 5 students talked to me in English. I AM THE &!%$%$# ENGLISH TEACHER....who else SHOULD you be speaking to????
I am thankful that tomorrow is Friday.
p.s.
I like my body. I like what I have...being that there is a lot of it, I should love it. I have someone who likes it as well. Would be better if he were on the same continent, but you can't have everything!! |

Hey, Mario...we are doing our best to keep you pissed-off.
Personally I like a breast or two...preferably two on the same person, preferably on a person of the opposite sex. Such wonderful inventions!!! God sure knew what he was doing, when he thought of them. |

@Denise - Ok, we'll compromise right there. And may one say you have lovely beasts (noting I spelt that wrong so robocop doesn't cap one's arse).
@Ginger
And I quote...
| Quote: |
One entry found for prefer.
Main Entry: prefer
Pronunciation: pri-'f&r
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): preferred; preferring
Etymology: Middle English preferren, from Middle French preferer, from Latin praeferre to put before, prefer, from prae- + ferre to carry -- more at BEAR
1 : to promote or advance to a rank or position
2 : to like better or best <prefers sports to reading> <prefers to watch TV>
3 : to give (a creditor) priority
4 archaic : to put or set forward or before someone : RECOMMEND
5 : to bring or lay against someone <won't prefer charges>
6 : to bring forward or lay before one for consideration
- preferrer noun |
From what I understand, a preferance is one that you would like to have more than the other. What ever it may be. But in the event that you cannot have said 'preferance', you wouldn't mind the other.....nuff said.
I give as good as I get, Ginger!!! Round four <ding>

Mario Lanza, who's very unmerry,
Fumbles his way through the dictionary,
To find out the meaning
Of new words he's been gleaning,
But his spelling remains arbitrary. |
