Are these the only two realistic options of CELTA courses in Mexico? Has anyone taken the one in Mexico City, I've found very little feedback about it after a scan and some searching online (sorry if I am repeating topics though) Thanks for any help, this forum is an absolute godsend! |

For Celta, I think those are your only two options in Mexico.
But you could always do the ITTO TESOL or SIT TESOL in Mexico.
All are considered equal, or that is what I have gathered reading this forum.
Good luck. |

Those are the only two options for Celta in Mexico. Playa del Carmen has courses all year but the one here in Mexico City is only two or three times a year.
Other options in Mexico are Teachers Latin America TEFL, ITTO, UET, and SIT TESOL.
There's a program with UNAM as well called CELE. |

I want to get a job in Spain in the future and I know competition is very high for jobs here, do you think it's looks bad on a CV to have done your celta in Playa Del carmen? i've been there and I don't want to have "I'm a beachbum/tourist" permenantly scarred on my CV and having to pay around 2000 for the privilege, do you think prospective teachers would care about where you do your celta? Also thanks for the wealth of information in this forum...it's great! |

My take on it is that the CELTA program is one of the most serious, thorough programs offered anywhere. No, you will not be besmirched by its locale. I have spoken to two people who have taken the Playa program and both said there was so much homework in the program there were not able to partake of the beach activities. |

Hello!
I don't think it matters where you take your CELTA. Just make sure you're comfortable with the city/area, weather etc. It's an intense course, and you won't have much time for anything else. I know a friend of mine who took the course in Playa and he said it was OK, just hot as hell. |
