Laos would be cool.

I met a guy on the Overland Track in the mountains of Tasmania (in winter) a few years back who had just spent some time in Laos. He maintained that Lao women are the most beautiful in the world. I hadn't heard that before, but I've heard it mentioned a few times since. Asian chicks don't do it for me but as they say, there's no harm in looking Cool

Are they?

Khermit,

You wouldn't happen to be moonlighting on the Laos/Cambodia Tourist Board would you?

That's right, Mark-O. For every two dozen travelers I attract to the region, the Mekong Riparian Tourist Board sends me a bowl of twigs and rice. MMmmm.

That's a good deal, and I'd advise you not to declare those earnings to the tax man - he'll take you for every sprig that you have!

Cambodia and Laos are definitely on my agenda at some point. I'll mention your name when I pass through immigration.

from a Bitter (but neither fat nor aggressive, just to shoot holes in the theory) Western Woman:

Oh, sure, a guy travels to Laos and all he can talk about is how drop-dead gorgeous the ladies are. Tell us something new, boys!!! Surely the place has more to offer than pretty faces.

Denise,

I'm a boy and I totally fell in love with Laos - and I don't recall looking at anybody "that" way!!!

It is the perfect place to chill out and de-stress from the major cities in Asia - the people are so relaxed and friendly, everything is so cheap, there is some amazing scenery and fabulous places to visit - including the teples at Luang Prabang, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Vang Vieng, is also fun, bet very Khao San road-y.

And I had the best cafe au lait and croissant so far in Asia at this tiny little place in Vientiane.

Dear Denise, i was going to protest that no one was talking about women on this thread until you raised the subject--but yes i see that the poster before you is asking a tiresome question. Even so, you remind me a bit of my ex-girlfriend who was obsessed by the topic. Anyway, with a handle like yours, your're hardly in a position to be casting stones! Why not come clean and take the name "Maenad"?

Little ol' me, a maenad?

I suppose I do get a bit psycho sometimes. Twisted Evil

The similarity ends there, though. Dancing naked in the woods just isn't for me. Too many insects and whatnot.

I've already read about Laos on Lonely Planet, Boots'n'all etc, so I've heard about the Little Parisian ambience of Vientiane, the temples etc and the cost of living is in my spreadsheet Smile

I'm just curious as to why guys rave about how beautiful Lao girls are. It seems unlikely to me but stranger things have happened.
