Hi all
I wonder if some of you more experienced teachers could help me out with my first contract?
To summarise, my partner and I are native English speakers with no degree or experience, although we are starting a 120 hour TEFL course next month (not CELTA or Cert. TESOL though).
Anyway, we have been offered a few "jobs", one of which I was very interested in. However, on researching them on another site, I came across a couple of ex teachers claiming they are not legit and are an agency and not a school, and they were placed at affiliate schools. My contact there is only interested in bringing me across on an F visa since she said I wouldn't qualify for the Z without a degree. Should I stay well clear of this, or could this be my only way in?!! I'm not sure whether I can put the name here, so I'd better leave it out...
The other contract is from a recruitment agency who initially sent me rough details of the school (but not the name), forwarded my details to them and then sent me a copy of the contract saying we had been successful. Again, I won't mention the school here but it is fairly well-known and I can't help but think I already applied to them some months ago and was turned down! Would it be unethical to contact the school directly to double check?
I'm concerned that by not arriving on a Z visa, these agencies will just send me to a different school at the last minute. The first contract doesn't even mention the name of the school (just the agency name) which sounds as though it could be a school, which is what I fell for to begin with!
The only definitely legit job we were offered is in Dali but fell through due to the SAFEA office rejecting us twice
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance |
