Just a reminder to all those considering a move to the KSA. The governments of Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and the USA all strongly recommend against travel to the KSA due to a:
very high threat of terrorist attack
These advisories can be seen at the respective government websites. This advisory has been in place since before the attacks on the US Consulate in Jeddah.

| The notices have been "in place" for over 5 years. It's CYAing (covering your ***). KSA is a lot safer than many countries. Security is no longer an issue. As for becoming the "victim of a terrorist attack", you're more likely to get run over by a bus in London or New York. Haven't seen body bags on special offer in the supermarkets yet. |

Really, no body bags on sale at Al-Tamimi or Carrefour?
Bet there aren't many bottles of "Walker's Red Label" or the latest printing of Lonely Planet's "Guide to Tel Aviv Nightlife" on the shelves either.
It's not as if market demand determines the social policies of KSA.
Personally, I'd feel much safer walking across Fifth Ave. or Leicester Square blindfolded than I would just trying to find a parking space in Jeddah.
KSA is a brutal , hateful, hate-filled place. If you've managed to find a niche there, so be it. But , please spare the rest of us your defense and justification of Islamic Paradise. |
