After having a steady job for the previous four years I have fallen a little out of the loop visa wise. My school has just informed me that there is a possibility that they will not be renewing my contract for the next semester which has left me in a tight spot. Now, I really enjoy my city and am very reluctant to leave BUT there are only 3 schools here permitted to hire foreigners. That tight spot just became smaller!

I'm looking into the possibility of going freelance and/or investing in a company. My main concern at the moment is the visa issue. Has anybody had any recent experience with obtaining the RP after having invested. Any and all information will be great.

Also, I would like to hear from people in the freelance scene; the pitfalls, loopholes and especially the visa concerns. I understand most freelancers may prefer to not post information of this type on a public forum so I would be greatful if we could at least communicate via PM/e-mail.

Thanks.

That's not gonna happen.

Cruising around China with no real job, calling yourself freelance is hardly a business by the Immigration standard.

Give it up, find a legal job elsewhere.

Don't hang on the hope...

Perhaps you should read my post again. Nowhere did I mention that a business/company was at all related to 'freelance'. Infact I mentioned freelance simply because it would be a little stupid to think that opening/investing in a business would be enough to support myself financialy from the get-go.
