I was a part time teacher at Com-Com and was never paid for almost 30 hours of work--that was almost 3 months ago. Many other teachers and staff were not paid either, or only given a bare stipend. I ran across a staff member I used to know from this school last weekend and she told me the school is still teaching classes, still taking money from customers, and still not paying wages!! They have adopted a business model based on hire, then fire when the complaining for non payment of salary becomes too loud. Apparently, they are not even paying rent on their school facilities! I happen to know that several teachers had complained to the local labor board regarding them them long ago. How is it possible that the responsible government bureau of oversight is allowing a scam like this to continue?

Maybe they are capable of continuing by people, such as you, that don't call the police, the mediation board, the Ministry of Education, or the courts to force an end to such actions.

This has nothing to do with the integrity, intentions, or character of teachers who get burned by dishonest and unethical TEFL schools and employers in China. To fault and criticize fellow teachers and posters here for sharing this kind of information is both impertinent and ludicrous. We should know the facts of the case and the sort of individuals involved before submitting, otherwise whats the point?

agreed. i had a part-time job at a language school where they paid me 1/3 of my supposed salary for my last paycheck. "if you don't like it, go to a lawyer" they said. of course i couldn't. i wasn't on a visa to teach at their school. sure, they were in the wrong. but so was i.
