Almost all of the jobs on offer through Angelina's are being offered by other middlemen. Using Google and specific historical facts about a school that Angelina's posts can lead you directly to the university, more often than not.

A disturbing trend over the last two years has been for universities to abandon direct recruitment altogether and simply use Angelina's and other middlemen.

I had dealings with Angelina's "cafe," when I was initially looking into China and they were not pleasant. They were exceptionally slow, unresponsive, irresponsible ,and a good number of their offers are not actually happening. They're simply trophy offers to boost the appearance that they have thousands of jobs on offer. You'd be better offer using their site as a reference and with a bit of detective work, contacting the actual schools yourself. You'll receive greater reception than from Angelina's.

Chengdu,

Get a TESOL,TEFL, CELTA or something. You may find a position without one but if you want to change jobs, your options could be restricted.

Having one opened a door for me which was quite lucrative, even though my FAO said a TESOL was unnecessary. The better qualified you are when you come, the more options you will have.

Yeah I will go for an online TEFL certificate. It is more important than I originally thought.

Hey Chengdu,

Yeah, glad to hear that you got a few replies by that method. Very Happy Don't be discouraged by the TEFL certification stuff they throw at you...that's definitely the exception, not the norm, in China.

I'm personally looking to go to Asia, too. Probably May. Thought I would never return after that 6-month stint, but there were so many benefits. So much free time, everything is so cheap, beautiful cultures....and the American economy, compounded by the realities of American corporate life, just totally sux. I'm torn 50/50 between Korea and Beijing, though. My heart is in Beijing, but Korea seems a bit better paid.

Anyways, I'm not at the PM level yet, either. But feel free to use this email address that I set up for another thread on Dave's:

[email protected]

Later,

Justin
