| A criminal background check is not done ipso facto and it is not to be confused with th employment background check, etc., |
Thank you, I know. I had a CRIMINAL background check done on me when I was first licensed as a teacher in the USA. |

| The task, while not impossible, seems somewhat daunting. I think when I go home this fall I'll have it done just to have the records on me and, should I want to try the Korea thing next summer, I'll be more ready for the hoop-jumping. Oh well, back to the starting line! |

I realized when I read your post that something was amiss with what you had been told. So here we go.
C-4 Visa.
MOST summer camps in South Korea require only a C-4 Visa, Kevin, and you should be able to meet the requirements of this visa very easily. (a) Original university diploma to be presented at the Consulate; (b) Sealed transcripts from your highest degree; (c) Valid United States Passport, valid for six months past the date of the summer camp; and (d) the invitation letter that the Summer Camp will give. Not all Korean Consulates will issue a C-4 visa but the one in Shanghai will.
E-2 Visa
The criminal background check is required for the longer term E-2 visa and the E-2 visa is for stays usually longer than 8 weeks.
The C-4 visa is specifically tailored for summer camp digs.
Try this agency here. I have used them in the past. Same pay as the one you mentioned.

| This thread should now be carried over to the Korea forums as it seems to have strayed from the original question. |
