If people out there, in " the know" , could advise me on how best to fast track a teaching position, I'd really appreciate it!
I need to make some decent money for a couple of years.
I'm a young 40 yr old British female. I've over 10 years teaching experience, a Masters in Education and various relevant Certs & Dips, some in teacher training from the Spanish goverment.
I've already sent my CV to various Universities etc.
I was wondering whether a better/quicker option would be to engage a recruitment agency; if so, what are the best ones and how much do they cost?
Again any well-advised info would be extremely help full!

The good employers don't use recruiters - they do it themselves from direct applicants.

Avoid recruiters... why give away part of your salary, which is what you would be doing, and they won't make things any faster. Not to mention that as helen1 says, the good employers don't use them.

The ME has its own speed... which is invariably slow and there is no hurrying them. If you have just applied, your timing wasn't great as most of the employers have already sent offers out for next September. They are now in waiting mode as they learn which were accepted and which were not. The next problem is that they never really know how many students they will have for the semester starting in September... and they won't really know until a couple weeks in.

Your only option is to wait... and wait... and wait... sorry...

Teachaway comes to mind. 11000 to 16000 dirams, not great money but they are still interviewing for lower elementary teachers. You must have an internationally recognized teaching cert.

They advertised on Daves/jobs/international and there was a discussion on this forum.

Get your degree attested while you have time on your hands.

Then once it is attested, make a point of mentioning that in your application. Many employers have an urgent need for staff from time to time, and if you're one step ahead of the crowd and ready to be deployed at a moment's notice then you will stand a much better chance of getting your feet under the table.

How does a person go about getting a degree attested for recognition in the UAE? I'm not currently in the UAE. Thanks!

degree attestation can be in several ways depending on which country you earned it in.

if they are official transcripts, you can usually send them to the UAE embassay and get them attested.

as for personal documents (which is more of a pain) you need to have things like marriage licenses and birth certificates attested, which involveds the local state/province official attesting them, then the country level attesting them and then have them sent to the UAE embassy so they can verify that they are attested.

It can be a major pain in the rear, and can be time consuming.

Never thought about getting my degree attested. Did you all have to do this? How long did it take? Was it expensive. How did you go about it? Why doesn't the employer get the employee's paperwork attested? Questions, questions.........

Yes.

Everyone working in the uae has had to have their degrees and personal documents attested.

Yes it is a pain in the rear, and usually you don't find out about it until you have been hired and they say now you leave in 5 weeks and you need to get this done.

As for the employer, they will not do the work of contacting your school or state because they cannot legally acquire those documents w/out your written approval, so it is easier and faster for them to have you do it.

also it helps weed out those who want the job because it is a hurdle some folks won't do.

Actually, you don't have to have a degree attested if the university sends a transcript directly to your employer. (This is true of HCT and the governement universities.) However, marriage licences, etc. are different and if you are having this done you may as well have as many documents as possible in the package - it isn't a cheap procedure, at least not in the UK.

Surley my passport is proof enough to this being legit. I'm not married ,yet! So No problem with marriage certs, as I'll be going alone.

By the way, I have an interview set up with EduNova. Any helpful hints on what to expect or questions I haven't thought of asking, would be welcomed.

I wasn't clear enough.

Childrens birth certificates and copies of marriage licenses.

And if you are a step parent who has adopted your spouses children it gets even worse (I'm told)

You also have to have your own birth certificate certified for the Emirates now... or at least a couple friends that started this past September in tertiary level jobs had to do so.

Another ludicrous rule to enable you to be parted from more of your money...
