Greeting all,
I thought to start a new thread for an opportunity to talk about the nitty gritty details of your experience of life in the UAE.
Does anyone know that ifone puts down that they are muslim on the documentation does that mean that one is not allowed to purchase alcohol in Dubai?? |

If it is in your passport probably not. You will be required to submit a copy of your passport along with a letter from your employer in order to get an alcohol permit from CID in Dubai.
If your passport does not give this info, then your employer may or may not issue the letter if they are aware that you are muslim. Some employers don't care, others will not - from the looks of the names on the website for your employer - I'd say the odds are about 50-50 - there's a lot of "pragmatic" employers who know that some muslim employees drink.
You will also need a letter from your husband "permitting" you to apply for the alcohol permit, register a car, etc. |

The application for a liquor licence has a space for Religion. If you have an Islamic name, you will not get a licence. However, if your husband is not a Muslim and has his own sponsorship when he is employed, then he can apply for a licence.
I don't think that any reputable employer would stamp the approval for a liquor licence if they knew that a person was a Muslim as they are responsible for your application. The law is quite clear - Muslim cannot buy alcohol and no one is allowed to sell it to them - this doesn't mean it doesn't happen as you will see in many hotel bars and at all the holes in the wall where licences are not needed to make purchases. |

Technically, you do need a license to purchase in Hotel Bars, it just isnt enforced. |

And transporting the stuff from hole in wall to home. Or even drinking it at home. Every so often there are tales of police raids on homes without licences but I've yet to meet anyone this has happened to - always a friend's friend! |

This is the best place to live in the Gulf. You name it, it's available or accessible. Just keep things in perspective. I should have come here years ago. |

Integrity, also read the home brew thread in this forum for some important details re: alcohol and the law in the UAE. many people who are residents of this country are unfortunately not aware of this information.

Since the death of HH Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi and Dubai became officially known as alcohol and hookers free zone to the Arab world.
Dubai as for reputation to compete with Bangkok; speaking about Abu Dhabi, hotels like Le Meridien, Le Royale Meridien, le Novotel are open bordellos where to find Palestinians, Syrians, Turks, Lebanese, Indians as well as local dressed like westerners...
Hookers, wearing hookers clothes are seen shopping in "7 stars malls" during broad daylight.

Raindrops, how do the hookers (if they are hookers) get into the UAE without an Emirati Sponsor? |

Dear cmp45,
How would you know for sure?
Presumably by applying the Supreme Court Judge Potter Stewart test:
Stewart wrote in his short concurrence that "hard-core pornography" was hard to define, but that "I know it when I see it."
Well, either that or by "testing the waters", so to speak.
Regards,
John |

Under "Office Workers" sponsorship, they also apply for "tourist visa" invited/visiting "friends" known as "pimps"; they stay in the UAE between 30 to 90 days, most are here on a 6 month basis.
If they are hooker????
If this is a joke, it's a funny one.
Plz cruise clubs and discos mentioned in my earlier post. |

Boy touched a nerve with that question!
From what I've heard and seen, your list is very short - try the Ajman Kempinski (nothing like a 5* hotel to attract the "right" kind of clientele) - there's a couple in Fujairah as well and several more including "strolls" in Dubai.
I only asked about sponsorship because in other "industries" like construction, the managers/owners/sponsors are held responsible for their employees' activities - apparently, like in much of the rest of the world, the UAE pimps are not. |

So where in Dubai does one go to meet "nice" Filipinas and other non-Western women who are open to normal dating? |
