Have you ever been caught in a war zone? You don't know which way the firefighting's coming from. You duck, hide, shoot. Then you wonder, who's shooting at me?

Is it your comrade, your friend? Could it be someone else, someone akin to an enemy? Or is it shooting in the dark?

Well, the "war zone" is real here, be it physical or mental. By "here" I mean Taiwan. To see things in a simplistic sense, is to see life as easy. To see it as being "caught" between the ideals you hold dear and the possiblity of being 'shot down', is to misconstrue these ideals.

It's like a war. Would anyone shoot in the dark at an unkown enemy, without first knowing this enemy exists? Perhaps, if some want to hide this fact. Would others stand up against the enemy, an enemy they know really exists, and this by facing the unknown conscience of judgment to make it more known?

Yes, they would, which is why the way of life for an English teacher in Taiwan is like being caught in a war zone. Your words(here,) and judgment, are your only defense. Whether or not there's a real enemy, you must decide. But don't let the darkness hide the fact an enemy doesn't exist. The light of day, and this via your vision, will see things differently.
