Russian jokes have a different kind of humor.
Here is one from one of my former students in Irkutsk:

There was a man on the street and he bought apples. He wanted a lot so he bought a box full, then he went to get on the bus. But the bus went away. So he started chasing after it. In the back of the bus, the window was open. The man chasing after the bus noticed a girl by the window.
'hey!,' he yelled. 'Why are you smiling? I'm the bus driver!'

Which made me think of what Russian is: it is going somewhere but we don't know where and who exactly is in charge? Which is a shame, since Russian has many smart and capable people, but many have left and become part of the brain drain.

I downloaded a lot of them onto my computer then to my own free image hosting site. (You then just copy the link and add the img tags like you do a picture) for example: [ img ] http://www.photobucket.com/laughsmiley.jpeg [/img ]

I'm not sure if you can directly link the images. But if you need a free place to put the smileys you want to use, photobucket is a good place. Mine are at greatestjournal.com (they have free image hosting feature too) My avatar (the tiger) is being hosted by them too.

If you need any more help, send me a PM

I should have paid more attention in Biology class.

At the risk of condescension..

The girl at the front hears about the bull's exploits and decides to wisecrack at the expense of her boyfriend, who last night probably stumbled in late after one over the eight, demonstrated his primeval grunting abilities and then rapidly fell into snoring..
The boyfriend, having applied some traditional Russian hair of the dog type thing, is now fully compos mentis and counter-quips, pointing out that ....
bleh
Maybe it just ISN'T FUNNY Laughing

Privyet waxwing et al:

Long time no post. Mr. Green Blame it on Rio. Or better yet, blame it on Bangkok, where life's a beach. Cool

Ok - I can't resist. Heard this joke from one of my Russian students last year and still think it's hilarious ... and sums up life in Russia pretty well.

___________________________________________________

Two men (an American and a Russian) die. The men are both standing at the gates of Hell.

The gate-keeper tells the men that they have a choice - they can opt for either the American Hell or the Russian Hell.

The American asks the gate-keeper, "What's the difference between American and Russian Hell?"

The gate-keeper answers, "In American Hell you have to eat one full bucket of s.h.i.t. per day, whereas in Russian Hell you have to eat two full buckets of s.h.i.t. per day."

The American ponders briefly and says "I guess I'll take American Hell."
The gatekeeper opens the gate to American Hell, and he walks in.

The Russian is next. He ponders for a moment, and says proudly, "I am Russian man. Always very much love Russia. I go Russian Hell !" So the gatekeeper opens the gate to Russian Hell, and in he goes.

About a week later, the American and the Russian are having lunch in the communal cafeteria of Hell, and they stop to chat.

"So ... how's American Hell?" asks the Russian. "It's horrible!" says the American. Every morning I get a full bucket of s.h.i.t. which I have to eat without stopping.

"So ... how's Russian Hell?" asks the American.

"Not bad" replies the Russian. "Some days no bucket, some days no s.h.i.t." Razz Laughing Razz Laughing Razz

John! Don't do it! Don't download the smileys! They are said to be loaded with spyware and tracking devices. Confused

Hope you're not being serious.. 'cause this website just has the pictures themselves.. not a bundled package. You download each picture individually. No chance for spyware or anything of the sort.
