One is often asked to send a copy of one's passport. Is this safe to do ? Shocked

Send a copy duly notated as a copy. Use a rubber stamp and stamp "Copy" across the passport in a couple of places. Do the same when sending any document with an official seal of any kind. They may still be able to photoshop it but if it is too much work, they will select another document for whatever scheme they might be working.
