So,yesterday as it was hot and sunny,I was out grilling in the garden and brought along two 500ml cans of Tyskie for refreshemnet purposes.
I downed both cans in about 90-100 minutes. That's not gonna break any speed records and I was in no hurry, as I had no classes in the evening.I just wanted to enjoy my afternoon.
About 30 minutes after finishing my second can,I came down with a severe headache. The headache lasted all through the evening and into the night and as I woke up this morning, I was feeling simply green.
I'm no lightweight drinker.I can finish off the best part of a bottle of good whiskey or vodka in an evening and feel no worse for wear.
I think there must have been some nasty chemicals in the brew.I used to really like Tyskie a few years ago, but it seems like it's changed or something.A tad more bitter and less refreshing.
I think I'm simply gonna avoid Polish beer completely. Was on a Paulaner binge last weekend, and felt great all throughout my session and afterwards. |

All PL beer turned to shit, these breweries are making huge shortterm profits by cutting costs everywhere only to have everyone turn to something else. Either thats their goal, or to have everyone start buying mildly better but more expensive beer, hell its all owned by the same corporation anyway.
Ive noticed that the more gold medals and "najlepsza jakosc" stamped all over the can the worse it is. And notice when you go to a pub a lot of people now just buy beer in a bottle, whatevers pissed out on tap sure isnt beer anymore. |

I think the general consensus on this forum is that horse piss probably tastes better and causes fewer side effects than the vast majority of Polish "beer."

In general, I avoid the stuff. The Poles really have a long way to go when it comes to producing quality products. Especially in the beer department. |

Rubbish. The Polish owned breweries produce cracking beer. Try Zywe or Amber Classic from the Amber brewery, or anything from the Ciechan brewery, or Perla or Goolman from the Lublin brewery.
It's the foreign-owned breweries that are producing the sh*t beer! |

Hehehe! I hope not!
Some smaller Polish breweries produce decent beer. It's those big breweries that are producing the poison swill. |

Mr. Tyskie and Uncle Okocim have never caused me any problems. I drink Okocim from the tap in my favorite haunts and Tyskie in cans at home. It's Zywiec which can do me serious bodily harm in quantity, but I quit drinking it a couple of years ago for that reason.
I like Polish beer, and while I miss the microbreweries and their IPA's, I have no complaints about the beer in Poland. |

Zywe is good stuff. A true beer and not that lager swill that you find everywhere in Poland. Not many places serve it in the tri-cities. Okocim, Zywiec and Tyskie reign supreme up near the Baltic.
Drinking Okocim off the tap was like Russian roulette. Sometimes I'd be fine the next day. Others, I'd be queazy and haggard with a bad stomach.
But iron-gut Scottie loves that Okocim draft. I think you use it as a laxative.
I'll buy you one when I come out in July. |

I don't know about the high end stuff. I don't spend that much time drinking. All I know is that I don't like . . .
Zywiec
Tyskie
Kolewskie
and I suspect that they put something other than water, malt, hops and yeast in all those beers.
I've tried Ciechan and I know it's good. I know the Poles are capable of a lot of good. That's one of the most depressing things about living here. - All of the wasted potential that I see. -
I've been amazed by the intelligence and astuteness of many of the Poles that I've met. I'm astounded by how clever and sharp they can be at times. I also think they have the potential to be warm, open minded and generous. The hard thing is watching so many of them do what's easy and ignore that potential.
I do it too. Everyone wastes some of their potential, but I've never seen it done to quite the extent and consistency as I see in Poland.
Is that me taking a shot at the Poles? No. It frustrates and saddens me (and I dare say other foreigners too), to see so many of them embracing a victim mentality, mistrust and shallowness. I know their difficult history, but it's time to move on. |

Not sure how available it is across the country, but Noteckie is pretty good. They make a light and dark.
Beer was much better here back in the mid-90s. Once the bigger breweries were bought out by the multi-nationals, the quality dropped drastically and quickly. |

Actually I did, and there was no problem with the expiry date at all.
Like the other poster said, the more dobrze jakosc; London 2005; Munich 2008;Berlin 2002; "awards" on the can,the worse the quality seems to be. |
