Hi, everybody

I was wondering:

Is it hard to get a job teaching English at universities in Latin American countries? Would my masters degree help, even though it's not in English?

I can only speak about Mexico and Ecuador where I have worked as a teacher trainer. If you have a Masters and a CELTA, you can find teaching positions in universities. The CELTA center where I train in Ecuador, Southern Cross, routinely places CELTA graduates in universities and we are closely affiliated with two universities, one in Guayaquil and one in Quito.

$700 US sounds pretty low, but then I'm assuming the cost of living is equally low. As someone who's never been to Peru, would you mind talking a bit about the cost of living? Much appreciated!

Yes it is. I took moto taxis, they're 30 cents. From my place to the uni, so I took 4 a day. Split shifts.

My house was only 120 usd a month, two bedrooms.

Outside of Lima, things are cheaper. Look here for cost of living. http://theultimateperulist.blogspot.com/2008/01/8-miscellaneous.html
