Abu Dhabi interview coming up) I have 18 years of experience teaching, a teachers license that allows me to teach from preschool to adult ed and, as of August 12 of this year, will be TEFL certified. Nine of my teaching years are in the U.S. teaching high school and adult ed. None of them were in China teaching English. I have taught from five year olds to seventy-five year olds.
I understand that most of the positions are for k-2 (maybe 350) and about 100 are for middle and high school. I have no experience teaching primary school in the U.S. but quite a bit in China - 2 years of half time and a lot of part time jobs.
How do you think they will determine my salary? I know several people have asked questions about this already. If possible, if you can provide general principles when answering it maybe others will not ask again. Will they weigh the experience in the U.S. more heavily than the experience in China? Will I have a better chance if I try to get a job in the jr high or sr high schools?

private schools in the middle east which are exteranlly accredited go through a inspection process in their business departments as a part of their accreditation and renewal
part of this is a pay scale
which reduces pay ineqities
they should give you a range at interview but this is finalized by your years of documented experience/certificates
i can't spell, so don;t correct me |

The problem haopengyou is that there seems to be no set system in the ME for salaries. Sometimes it seems like they just throw out a number to see what they can get away with. About all people can do is come here and give the offer versus your credentials here and see what teachers currently there have to say.
I believe that you are applying for ADEC/PPP or whatever they are calling it these days? There are plenty of posters here now who can tell you whether your offer is good or not.
As to providing an answer that will cause people to not ask again... what you will find here is that people will ask the same question as the thread exactly below theirs.
